Do you use 5 W LEDs? 3W? How many watts are your LEDs?
The term "5 W LED" used by some competitors is misleading. Therapy lights across the industry use the same size diodes, around 42–45 mm. A dual-chip design does not increase light output. PlatinumLED uses high-quality single-chip LEDs. There are no legitimate 5 W therapy LEDs.
Why does PlatinumLED include pulsed lighting in the BIOMAX PRO?
Pulsing is an optional feature added in response to customer requests. There is no proven advantage to pulsed light. Optimal outcomes come from the device's power output and spectrum. Users can choose to use or ignore the pulsing feature.
Can I individually select wavelengths in the light to control only those?
Yes, BIOMAX PRO models allow you to independently control wavelength channels, so you can adjust or turn specific wavelengths on or off.
That said, most research on light therapy focuses on using red and near-infrared wavelengths together, as they are commonly studied in combination. For that reason, many users choose to run multiple wavelengths at once rather than isolating a single one.
What are the Joules or mW/cm² of your lights?
Third-party output testing data, including joules and mW/cm², from an accredited lab is available on the Certifications/Testing page.
What is the difference between the BIOMAX 300, 450, 600, and 900?
All models offer the same therapeutic benefits. The differences are in physical size, number of LEDs, and total output. The lights are modular, so you can connect units to build larger arrays. Larger units cover more of the body in a single session and deliver more overall light energy.
What is the difference between the BIOMAX PRO NANO, MIDI, GRANDE, and ULTRA?
All models offer the same therapeutic benefits. The differences are in physical size, number of LEDs, and total output. The lights are modular, so you can connect units to build larger arrays. Larger units cover more of the body in a single session and deliver more overall light energy.
Why does the BIOMAX 900 have different wattages and amperages for Remote and Solo modes?
In Solo mode, the BIOMAX 900 outputs approximately 490 W. When connected with the remote, power is reduced to approximately 380 W so that up to four units can run on a 15/20 A breaker without tripping it. The intensity and therapeutic benefits remain high in either mode.
What are the benefits of blue light therapy?
Blue/480nm wavelengths of light have been used in high level dermatology for many years and have numerous skin and anti-aging benefits. Studies have shown it to be beneficial for applications such as rosacea, psoriasis, anti-aging, acne and sun damage reversal among many others.
Why do your lights not use dual chips?
PlatinumLED uses high-quality single-frequency LEDs. Dual- or multi-chip LEDs emit multiple wavelengths from tiny chips, meaning each wavelength is produced at lower power and the total output is inferior. Dual-chip designs cannot optimize individual wavelength ratios and are considered a marketing gimmick. Single-chip LEDs provide superior distribution and output.
